Pain coping skills training using an internet-based program called PainCOACH appears to reduce pain levels among patients with osteoarthritis who use the intervention, according to a study. The 8-week, automated program was well accepted and adhered to by participants. Women who received the PainCOACH intervention reported significantly lower pain than women in a control group. The findings underscore the value automated internet-based approaches to teach pain coping skills.
