Researchers in this study wanted to offer the most recent research on the influence of longer operating periods in retrograde intrarenal surgery and to identify potential critical aspects that might help with ureteroscopy operations. Ureteroscopy was the predominant treatment for renal stones and is distinguished by a wide range of methods and instruments. It was proposed that longer operational periods may reduce procedure results by raising complication rates. Nonetheless, nothing was known about the temporal limitations beyond which difficulties were expected. Furthermore, the complication rates in various operation durations have yet to be determined.
In ureteroscopy, longer surgical periods were associated with higher complication rates. Stone intricacy, patient risk factors, surgeon expertise, bilateral surgery, and equipment were all key considerations that can either impede or assist an operation and should be considered ahead of time. Keeping procedure time frames under 90 minutes can help to avoid possible complications and achieve higher stone-free rates.
