Swedish research suggests that mass screening for atrial fibrillation (AF) in patients aged 75 or 76 appears to identify a significant percentage of those with untreated AF. Over 28 months, previously unknown AF was detected in 3.0% of participants. An initial electrocardiogram detected 0.5% of AF cases in the study.
