This study highlights current advances in gender affirmation surgery, imaging results in patients having these procedures, with an emphasis on frequent postoperative radiologic presentations, difficulties, and interpretation hazards. Multiple imaging modalities are used in presurgical planning and immediate and long-term postoperative periods of masculinizing and feminizing genitourinary operations. CT and MRI scans can aid in the detection of both immediate and distant postoperative problems. Fluoroscopic exams can detect postoperative urethral problems following gender affirmation surgery. Finally, individuals may be subjected to imaging for unrelated acute and chronic diseases, and knowledge of these imaging results can be quite beneficial.
Imaging is crucial in the management of transgender patients, particularly those considering gender affirmation surgery. As insurance coverage for these surgical treatments grows, radiologists must be ready to meet, comprehend, and interpret pre and postoperative findings.
