The variant dissection technique due to periprostatic neurovascular bundles distribution patterns is still confusing for surgeons. This study aims to understand the relations of the bundles and fascicles around the prostate to create better morphologic knowledge of the periprostatic tissue.
The study used 26 adult male cadavers to collect pelvic viscera. The team embedded it in celloidin and cut it into slices. Using anatomic microscopy, the slices got studied, and 3-D reconstruction via series software helped in better analysis.
The prostatic capsule surrounding the dorsal was joint ventrally to AFMS. The striated sphincter’s lower part embraces the urethral, and the upper part covers the prostate’s lower ventral area. The upper ventral area is covered by the detrusor’s circular muscle. The capsule and levator fascia adhere to the lateral prostate’s convex region. PNVB divides into posterior and anterior divisions. The anterior part continues as DVC. DVC’s distal part reaches the penile hilum, and the posterior part continues as neurovascular bundles and forms CS. CS’s distal part joins with pudendal neurovascular bundles.
AFMS and capsule form a pocket-like structure. The posterior and anterior neurovascular starts from PNVB and ends at the penile hilum. The circular fibers start from the detrusor.
