Individualized comprehensive surgical coaching appears to enhance surgical training and result in superior skill acquisition when compared with conventional training, according to published research. Surgical trainees who received coaching scored significantly higher on a procedure-specific skill tests and made fewer technical errors. Significant within-group improvements for all skill metrics were observed only in the coaching group.
