Abraham Verghese, MD, vice chair of the Department of Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine and New York Times best-selling author, will be presenting the keynote lecture, Physician, Patients, and the Nature of Heroism in Medicine, on November 12. Dr. Verghese will discuss how meaning and the nature of heroism can be extracted from human experiences on the scale of the present pandemic. Dr. Verghese will also explore the physician-patient relationship, particularly in the context of rheumatology.
