Smoking cessation programs that offer rewards appear to be more commonly accepted than those including refundable deposits, according to a study. Among patients assigned to reward-based programs, 90% accepted the assignment, compared with less than 15% of those assigned to deposit-based programs. Reward-based programs also had higher abstinence rates (16% vs 10%).
